Age Comparison Chart for Dogs and Cats
These charts are generally based on
tooth and bone growth, sexual maturity and other factors related to
maturity. They are not exact. These are averages.
Larger breeds mature
more slowly initially, and have shorter life spans -- a Great Dane
is going to be relatively younger (in human years) at age 1 and
considerably older at age 8 than the average. (A Chihuahua is going to be just the
opposite -- will be more mature at age 1 and somewhat younger at age
8.)
Cats are similar to
small breeds of dogs in their aging relationships. We have
seen cats over 25 years old! Although this is exceptional.
